4 mars 2024 : First neutrons on SAM at the ILL.

img

At the end of an installation period in the ILL guides hall lasting 8 months, the small angle neutron scattering instrument SAM (CRG 2FDN) received its first neutrons on 4 March. The next steps include the qualification of the instrument with regard to radiation protection, its commissioning under beam (“hot commissioning”) and then the first experiments in “friendly user” mode, planned for the second cycle 2024, before the long shutdown of the ILL.

See the first measurement of the scattering of a plexyglass sample in the following pdf file.
