Perhaps you are also interested to know that 26 January 2008 (Australia Day) marked 50 years since the first nuclear reaction took place at a reactor in Australia (and the Southern Hemisphere). The High Flux Australian Reactor at Lucas Heights went critical at 11.15pm on 26 January 1958.
