The postdoctoral researcher will conduct investigations of
thermoelectric materials using neutron scattering, in collaboration with
the S3TEC Energy Frontier Research Center (http://s3tec.mit.edu/
).
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualifications:
Recent Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related
fields will be considered. Demonstrated expertise in materials physics is
required and experience with neutron and/or x-ray scattering is highly
desirable. Knowledge about thermodynamic and transport properties,
phonons, or computer simulations of microscopic dynamics will be an
advantage.
Strong written and oral communication skills and the desire to work in
a team environment on scientifically challenging problems are required.
The successful candidate will conduct research at the Oak Ridge National
Laboratory, and make use of the Spallation Neutron Source, the High Flux
Isotope Reactor and other neutron/x-ray. Applicants cannot have received the
most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application
and must complete all degree requirements before starting their
appointment.
Technical Questions:
Questions regarding the position can be directed to Olivier
Delaire at delaireoa@ornl.gov. Please
include the requisition number and title when corresponding.
