De: neutron-bounces@neutronsources.org de la part de Jan Saroun Envoyé: lundi 5 octobre 2015 19:00 À: neutron@neutronsources.org Objet: [Neutron] Job announcement - NPL instrument scientist, neutron diffraction Pièces jointes: ATT00001.txt The Neutron Physics Laboratory (NPL) at the Nuclear Physics Institute, ?ež near Prague, Czech Republic, invites applications for an instrument scientist position in the neutron diffraction group. The position is open to candidates who have (or are about to receive) a PhD in physics, chemistry, material science and engineering or related areas, and have a proven record of experience with experimental research in materials science. The candidate should preferably have a background in neutron or X-ray diffraction methods and good technical and communication skills. The successful candidate will participate in the research and development work associated with neutron scattering instrumentation at the neutron diffractometers dedicated to characterization of microstrains and deformation mechanism in technologically important materials. Responsibilities will include the cooperation with visiting researchers in conducting experiments and data reduction in the subjects like microstrain characterization of materials within the open access user program of CANAM. She/he will also participate in the instrumental equipment and software upgrade projects at the diffractometer. The instrument scientist is also expected to develop her/his own research program using the diffractometer and/or other facilities at NPL, preferably in the field of characterization of microstrains and deformation mechanism in alloys and related topics. For further information, please contact Dr. Pavel Strunz (strunz@ujf.cas.cz). Timescale of the appointment: The appointment will initially be for three years with the possibility of extension (subject to satisfactory performance). Closing date for applications: 31 October 2015. Applicants should send a letter of application, a detailed academic C.V., a list of publications, the contact details of at least two academic referees and copies of degrees to Pavel Strunz Nuclear Physics Institute, ONF CZ-25068 ?ež near Prague, Czech Republic phone: +420 266173553 fax: +420 220940141 e-mail: strunz@ujf.cas.cz Additional information: The Nuclear Physics Institute ASCR, public research institution, is a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. With about 250 employees, it hosts the user infrastructure CANAM, which includes also Neutron Physics Laboratory (NPL). The NPL research team combines expertise in the field of materials science with the power of neutron physics. The user facilities of NPL are open to both national and international guest scientists - at least 40% of the instrument beam time is reserved for external research proposals.
