POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN FOOD STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS AT ANSTO [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Post Doctoral Fellowship

Food Structure and Dynamics

2 year term (with possible 1 year extension)

Salary range: A$72,358 (plus 15.4% superannuation)

ANSTO is one of Australia’s foremost scientific research and development organisations, focused

on delivering the benefits of nuclear science to the Australian community.

The Bragg Institute is the research centre for the construction and use of neutron-scattering

instrumentation at the new OPAL reactor close to Sydney. The Scientists of The Bragg Institute

are renowned for being the leading group of neutron scatterers in the Southern Hemisphere.

We are seeking a recent PhD graduate in chemistry, biology, materials science or a related area

with a strong innovation focus, good communication skills and a proven publication record who can

work well within small cross-disciplinary teams and can collaborate strongly with other research

groups. Experience in the application of small-angle neutron or X-ray scattering methods including

data analysis and an interest in community outreach are essential.

The fellow will join ANSTO’s Food Science Project and work in a major initiative applying a

multidisciplinary approach to understand the structure and dynamics in food-based systems. The

current interests of the group relate to, but are not limited to, proteins and polysaccharides. The

fellow will interact closely with collaborators both in Australia and internationally and will have the

opportunity to use the state-of-the-art SANS instrument at OPAL, Quokka.

The successful Post Doctoral Fellow will interact closely with national and international

collaborators and will have the opportunity to publish in high impact journals, present their work at

international conferences and to access major facilities through existing networks of collaborative

partners.

To be eligible for appointment, applicants will require a security and medical assessment.
