De: neutron-bounces@neutronsources.org de la part de Marie Haltod Envoyé: lundi 2 février 2015 16:24 À: neutron@neutronsources.org Objet: [Neutron] Postdoctoral Position at the Helmholtz Center Berlin for Materials and Energy Postdoctoral Position in X-ray and Neutron Scattering studies of Correlated Electron Systems at the Helmholtz Center Berlin for Materials and Energy EM2015/5 The Department of Quantum Phenomena in Novel Materials undertakes world leading research in quantum and frustrated magnetism, multifunctional materials and superconductivity. As well as operating several X-ray and neutron instruments it also offers a state-of-the-art materials synthesis program and the full range of standard sample characterization facilities including X-ray Laue and powder diffraction, magnetization, transport and thermal measurements. We invite applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of experiment condensed matter. The position is to use primarily the experimental techniques of X-ray and neutron scattering to explore the physics of correlated electron systems and emphasis will be given to the investigation of quantum and frustrated magnets. X-ray and neutron experiments will take place both in-house and at external sources, and bulk properties measurements will be used as complimentary techniques. Experimental data will be used to test and develop current theoretical models. The candidate should have or be close to achieving a PhD in condensed matter physics. Experience of X-ray and neutron diffraction as well as rietveld refinement of crystal and magnetic structures is important. The appointment is for two years, with a salary based on the German Collective Agreement of the Public Service (TVöD-Bund). The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) operates two large scale research infrastructures, the neutron source BER II and the photon source BESSY II. These facilities serve an international user community from many scientific disciplines, hosting more than 3000 external users per year. HZB staff performs accelerator research, develops science-driven designs of new instruments and investigates novel methods using neutron scattering and synchrotron radiation in the VUV and soft X-ray regime primarily for materials and energy research. Materials and energy research at HZB focuses on photovoltaics and solar fuel generation, fundamental aspects of energy storage and energy efficiency as well as on new materials systems relevant for information technologies. (www.helmholtz-berlin.de). As HZB endeavours to increase the number of women working in the scientific field, women are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preference to others of equal qualification. For informal inquiries, please contact Prof Bella Lake (email: bella.lake@helmholtz-berlin.de, phone +49- (0)30-8062-42058). The deadline for application is 6th March 2015. Applicants should send a cover letter, detailed CV and the contact details of three academic referees to Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie GmbH, Abt. Personal und Soziales, Hahn-Meitner-Platz 1, D-14109 Berlin, Germany, (Email: personalabteilung@helmholtz-berlin.de) quoting reference no.
