You have now the chance to join the ESS’s Protection Systems Group and collaborate with many different specialists in the field of physics, electrical, electronics, software, and mechanical engineering to master the challenges of protecting a novel neutron source driven by a 5MW proton beam. Take this opportunity to apply for the Electrical Design Engineer position, to be a part of one of Europe’s most exciting science project. Description of division and group You will join the Integrated Control System division within the Machine Directorate responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of control systems for the ESS facility including Accelerator, Target, Neutron Scattering Instruments and Conventional Facilities. In particular you will join the Protection Systems Group whose mandate covers the design, realization, operation and consolidation of the Machine Protection and Personnel Safety Systems. Description of main responsibilities We are seeking for an Electrical Design Engineer with strong expertise in the IEC61508 standard and in Personnel Safety Systems. The successful applicant will assist in the design, development, installation, commissioning and operation of the Personnel Safety Systems for the ESS facility. Qualifications To be successful and perform well in this position, you have the following qualifications: Significant experience in the design of safety-critical interlock systems based on the IEC61508 standard. Experience in project management of medium to large value projects is desirable. Experience in producing electrical design engineering solutions to high standards to meet demanding technical and scientific specifications, including the following fields: IEC61508 safety PLC systems, IEC61508 safety relay logic systems, Relay and PLC based control systems, Cable calculations and cable containment design, Panel and chassis design and construction. Experience of working in an international environment is desirable. Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage. Experienced in managing teams of technicians and contractors. You enjoy the challenge of building a world-class science facility by working and collaborating with an experienced team from many different countries and cultures.
