Oak Ridge National Laboratory is pleased to announce a Call
for Proposals for experiments at both the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) and
the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). This call includes the following
nine instruments:
HFIR instruments
·
·
Triple-Axis Spectrometers (HB 1 and HB 3)
·
Residual Stress (HB 2B)
·
SANS (CG 2)
·
Bio-SANS (CG 3)
SNS instruments
·
Backscattering Spectrometer (BL 2)
·
Magnetism Reflectometer (BL 4A)
·
Liquids Reflectometer (BL 4B)
The electronic proposal submission
system will open June 1, 2007 for this call, which will cover the experimental
period at HFIR and SNS beginning November 2007; the call is open until 6am EDT,
Monday, July 16, 2007. For details concerning proposal submission and
instrument capabilities, please visit our website at http://neutrons.ornl.gov.
This website has specific information (along with names of scientific contacts)
about each of the above-mentioned instruments.
In addition, there is an opportunity
for earlier experiment time at three HFIR instruments. Proposals for the
three triple-axis spectrometers will be considered for HFIR cycle 410
(beginning August 2007) if the proposals are received by Monday, June 18, at
6am EDT. Proposals received after this date (until July 16) for these HFIR
instruments will be considered for cycles later in Fall 2007.
All proposals will be reviewed for feasibility, safety, and
the potential for high impact science. Users of approved experiments must
complete certain access and training requirements prior to beginning their experiments.
Please contact neutronusers@ornl.gov or call Judy
